Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts - Meatballs&Milkshakes

Sorry to all of you for the delay since the last post, but I have big news to share! This past weekend, we got married! And naturally, it’s been a busy couple of weeks with a lot of eating out and ordering takeout. But now I’m back in the kitchen with all sorts of new toys to try out. One of which is a doughnut pan. And what better breakfast than cinnamon sugar doughnuts? If you don’t have one of these pans, I recommend getting one right now. I’m not likely to deep fry doughnuts, but these are fantastic and so easy.

Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts

1 cup flour

3/8 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cardamom

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg

3/8 cup milk

1 tablespoon melted butter

Zest of half an orange

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. Pipe into a doughnut pan with a pastry bag or with a spoon until 1/2- 3/4 full. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before removing from pan.

You can glaze them or simply dip them in a combination of cinnamon and sugar. To make the mixture stick better, you can brush them with melted butter before the sugar.

Congratulations! I’m definitely putting a donut pan (or two) on our registry. How many did you get?

Thanks! Just the one, because it will encourage us not to eat too many of them….
