Sorry to all of you for the delay since the last post, but I have big news to share! This past weekend, we got married! And naturally, it’s been a busy couple of weeks with a lot of eating out and ordering takeout. But now I’m back in the kitchen with all sorts of new toys to try out. One of which is a doughnut pan. And what better breakfast than cinnamon sugar doughnuts? If you don’t have one of these pans, I recommend getting one right now. I’m not likely to deep fry doughnuts, but these are fantastic and so easy.
Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts
1 cup flour
3/8 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
3/8 cup milk
1 tablespoon melted butter
Zest of half an orange
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. Pipe into a doughnut pan with a pastry bag or with a spoon until 1/2- 3/4 full. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before removing from pan.
You can glaze them or simply dip them in a combination of cinnamon and sugar. To make the mixture stick better, you can brush them with melted butter before the sugar.
Congratulations how wonderful, those doughnuts look so good, I have never tried baked doughnuts but have often thought I should get one of those pans, I have been looking for a good recipe for cake doughnuts, saved!
Thanks Suzanne!
Congratulations on getting married!
Thanks Stefan!
Congratulations! I’m definitely putting a donut pan (or two) on our registry. How many did you get?
Thanks! Just the one, because it will encourage us not to eat too many of them….
Congratulations on the wedding. Donuts are a fine way to celebrate
Thanks Liz!
Congratulations! And these donuts look SO good!
Thanks!
